As a stated purpose of , Education, we have created and are now among other
items. These brochures are well researched and cover current and thought
provoking RFSO subjects.

Each brochure deals with a specific subject, and they include:

We Believe Brochure:  This brochure lists the beliefs of SOSEN.

The Facts Brochure:    20 facts regarding sex offender issues. This is a
powerful brochure that brings detailed FACTs regarding RFSO to the fore.

My Family Brochure:  This brochure deals with the heart wrenching situations
and consequences of registry laws that family members of RFSO's must deal
with on a day to day basis.

The AWA Brochure:    A thought provoking look at the law and the reasons why
it is failing the public.   This Brochure was produced by Derek Logue a
published author and talk show personality.  His book, "OnceFallen" is a must
read!

Civil Commitment:  Yet another well researched brochure by Author Derek
Logue. This brochure makes the point, “Civil Commitment a very uncivil
proposal”

Residency Laws Brochure:  Another creation of Author Derek Logue. This
brochure offers a look at residency laws from a standpoint that most would like
to ignore.

Banishment Brochure:  This brochure offers a look at the subject of
banishment, its origins and effects on society.

Clustering Brochure:  Clustering is a subject that is gaining traction, however,
the experts in the field of sex offender issues have already weighed in on this
subject. This brochure puts these facts in your hands.

Media Brochure:  In many instances the media is directly responsible for
disseminating fallacious information regarding sex offender issues. This
brochure deals with this subject. It was designed specifically for those in the
media.

Church Brochure:   In the late 1930’s the churches were called on to stand
united against the first man to set up sex offender registries. The churches did
not do this and Hitler manipulated the populace of Germany to kill millions of
innocent people.  Once again the churches are being called on to unite against
laws that violate bible principles, will they heed this, a second warning, or once
again prove to be sleeping spiritually?

Handbills:   If you are an RFSO or a family member who is soon to receive a
loved one home from prison, you may soon be hearing from fearful neighbors.
Also the police may be going from door to door with fliers in a campaign of
community  notification. This small double sided handbill may be able to help
relive the fears of some of your neighbors. It is clear and to the point.

This is for the handbills but can also be used for placing brochures.  Much of
this info is legally based.

1.  Never put a handbill in someone’s mailbox!  That is illegal. You can mail it,
but you cannot just put it in a person’s mailbox.

2.  If you are going door to door to drop off handbills, always stay on the
sidewalk or the designated path to the FRONT door.  Good manners, but also
for legal aspects.  The Supreme Court ruled that anyone can come to your
FRONT door; provide they use the proper path to do so.

3.  Do not enter and no trespassing signs.  Simple, Do Not Enter!

4.  Do not drop handbills on the porch and walk away.   If you do not want to
talk to the homeowner, or they are not at home, place the handbill where it
cannot be seen from the street, like folded in the edge of the screen door.   This
is also good manners and keeps thieves from noticing the homeowner is not at
home.

5.  When leaving handbills in Doctor’s offices and other places of business, be
sure to ask if it is ok to do so.  Many will say it is ok, others will not.  By asking,
you make the owner of the premises aware that the handbill is there.   We do
not want some hate filled person to go off on our doctor or dentist or anyone.
That will not set well with the public.

6.  If you decide to post the handbills (On telephone poles etc.), make sure you
are following local laws when doing so.  Also be prepared to go back and
remove the handbills after a few days.  The reason:  In a few days the paper will
look bad and will start to blow in the wind.  This sort of trash blowing around
looks bad to everyone; it makes the people who posted it and the organization
they represent look disrespectful.  Be responsible with handbills!

7.  If we are to be the most effective with handbills, face to face contact is
always best.  Let me show you just one way to use this handbill.

You can use this approach anywhere, but let’s say the doctor’s office.  You see
someone waiting and decide to start up a conversation.

Hi!  My name is ____.  How are you today.   Wait for a response.

Then you might say.  "Have you noticed how much crime the news has been
reporting?  Do you think things are really that bad, or is it just for ratings?"
LISTEN to their response.

Now with the knowledge of what you just heard them say, take out the handbill
and you could say something like.  “I was just reading this handbill and I found
something interesting.  It says that most people feel that sex offenders have
between 50% and 90% re-offence rates.   What do you think about that?"

Let them respond and LISTEN to why they feel the way they do.  You are trying
to find a common ground.  Next no matter what their answer was you can show
them the box showing the re-offence rate compared to other crimes and then
direct them to the top box on the back page.  Get their response to the box!

Then if they will allow you too, read the box.  There are 2 questions in that box.
Allow the person to answer those questions.  Then read on.

After you have read the box, ask. “What do you think of the findings of that
study?”  Again listen to the response.  At this point, if they seem to be
reasonable, offer them the handbill.  If they are unreasonable, remain polite and
keep the handbill.

Above all, do not get into an argument.  It is better to walk away and hope that
something else changes they mind.

This is a short explanation of effective use of handbills.  I hope they do some
good!
